Complete Shipping Guide: Parcel, Freight, and Local Pickup
Everything you need to know about shipping options — small parcels, large freight items, and local pickup coordination.
LegacyLoop supports three ways to get items to buyers: standard parcel shipping, freight shipping for large items, and local pickup. Here is a comprehensive guide to each option.
Standard Parcel Shipping is best for items that fit in a box and weigh under 70 pounds. This covers the vast majority of items people sell — dishes, books, collectibles, small furniture, electronics, and more. LegacyLoop compares rates from USPS, UPS, and FedEx in real time so you always get the best price. Our AI suggests the right box size and whether the item needs fragile handling.
- After your item sells, click "Ship Now" on the item page.
- Confirm or adjust the package dimensions and weight. Our AI pre-fills these based on the item category.
- Enter the buyer's address (or confirm the pre-filled one).
- Compare carrier rates and delivery times side by side.
- Choose "Print Label" or "QR Code" and you are done.
Freight Shipping is for large, heavy items like furniture, pianos, or appliances that cannot go through standard carriers. LegacyLoop partners with freight carriers for items over 70 pounds or larger than 108 inches combined length and girth. Freight shipments include liftgate service and inside delivery options.
Local Pickup is the simplest option. The buyer comes to you. When you mark an item as "Local Pickup," buyers see your general area (city, not exact address) on the listing. Once a buyer is confirmed, you coordinate a meeting time through the messaging system. We recommend meeting in a public, well-lit location for safety.
Packaging Tips: For fragile items like china, glassware, or ceramics, use double-boxing with at least 2 inches of cushioning on all sides. Wrap each piece individually in bubble wrap. LegacyLoop's ShipBot flags items that likely need fragile handling and suggests appropriate packaging.
Shipping Costs: The buyer pays shipping on top of the item price. Your listing price is what you receive (minus the platform fee). LegacyLoop shows buyers estimated shipping costs before they purchase so there are no surprises.
Tip: If you are not sure whether to offer shipping or local pickup, choose "Both." This gives you the widest pool of buyers while still allowing someone local to save on shipping.
