How ShipBot Handles Shipping Estimates
AI-powered shipping estimates, carrier comparison, packaging recommendations, and fragile item detection.
ShipBot takes the guesswork out of shipping. It estimates costs, recommends packaging, compares carrier rates, and flags items that need special handling. Here is what ShipBot does and how it helps you.
Automatic Package Suggestions: When AnalyzeBot identifies your item, ShipBot automatically suggests the right box size and estimated weight based on the item category. For example, a vintage teacup set gets a medium box suggestion with fragile handling, while a hardcover book gets a small flat-rate box. ShipBot knows the typical dimensions for over 25 item categories.
Fragile Item Detection: ShipBot checks the item's material, category, and condition to determine if it needs special packaging. Items made of glass, ceramic, porcelain, or crystal are automatically flagged as fragile. The shipping panel adds a fragile warning and recommends double-boxing with extra cushioning.
Carrier Comparison: ShipBot compares real-time rates from USPS, UPS, and FedEx. For each carrier, you see the cost, estimated delivery time, and any special features (like insurance or signature confirmation). ShipBot highlights the best value option and the fastest option so you can choose based on your priorities.
Metro Estimates: Before an item sells, ShipBot shows you what it would cost to ship to five major metro areas — New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Phoenix. This gives you and potential buyers a realistic shipping cost expectation upfront.
How ShipBot Works on the Item Page:
- After AI analysis, scroll down to the Shipping Panel on your item page.
- You will see the AI-suggested package details: box size, weight, and whether the item is flagged as fragile. You can adjust any of these if the suggestion is not quite right.
- Below that, the carrier comparison table shows rates from all three carriers. Rates are based on your zip code and the package details.
- The metro estimate cards show shipping costs to major cities, helping you decide whether shipping nationwide is worth it for this item.
Tip: Always weigh your item on a kitchen or bathroom scale before shipping. ShipBot's weight estimate is usually close, but carriers charge by actual weight, and an underestimate could mean extra fees.
