How AnalyzeBot Identifies Your Items
The AI analysis that examines your photos to identify items — maker, material, era, condition, and more.
AnalyzeBot is the first bot that runs when you click "Analyze with AI" on any item page. It uses OpenAI Vision to examine every photo you uploaded and produce a detailed identification. Here is what it does and how to get the best results.
What AnalyzeBot Identifies: After examining your photos, AnalyzeBot produces a comprehensive report covering:
- Item identification (what it is, who made it, model or pattern name)
- Maker or manufacturer
- Material (wood, ceramic, metal, glass, fabric, etc.)
- Era or approximate age
- Style (Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Victorian, etc.)
- Condition score (1-10 scale)
- Cosmetic condition details (scratches, wear, patina, stains)
- Functional condition (does it work, any missing parts)
- Markings, stamps, or labels found
- Estimated dimensions
- Completeness (all parts present, missing components)
The AI cross-references up to 6 photos to build its identification. It looks at different angles, zooms in on markings, and compares details across all photos to give you the most accurate result.
How to Get the Best Results:
- Upload multiple photos. One photo gives a basic identification. Three to six photos with different angles give a much more detailed and accurate result.
- Include close-ups of any markings, labels, stamps, or signatures. These are often the key to identifying the maker and era, which dramatically affects value.
- Show the condition honestly. Photograph any damage, wear, or flaws. The AI needs to see these to give an accurate condition score.
- Use good lighting. Natural daylight is best. Avoid harsh shadows or glare.
- Add context in the description. If you know when the item was purchased, where it came from, or any history, include that. The AI uses your text description alongside the photos.
After AnalyzeBot finishes, you will see the full results on your item page organized into sections: Identification, Condition, Summary, Antique Check, Listing Suggestions, and Photo Analysis. Each section can be expanded for more detail.
Tip: If AnalyzeBot seems uncertain (low confidence score), try adding better photos — especially close-ups of markings or labels. One clear photo of a maker's mark can change an identification completely.
